CLUB FUN ON THE CLUB RUN TO BEVERLEY!

Updated: Nov 6

Here's a recap on our run to Beverley on the 21st September prepared by El Presidente Malcolm.

In total there were 16 participants in eight vehicles. This included five guests spread over two vehicles. Member vehicles included a mixture of daily drives and (as it turned out) not-so-fickle fillies. The not so ‘fickles included Dolly, Miss Amanda 420G Vanstone, and of course the Vauxhy Lady. Our guests brought with them two classics: one a Porche 911 Targa and the other (?) a Tesla Type 3.

The main entourage departed Darlington 10:15am and, as had been planned, on the way out we stopped at the servo at Lakes turnoff to collect Miss Amanda 420G Vanstone (conveying Richard and Gail).

The journey over to Beverly via the West Talbot Road went very smoothly. Temperature was around 26 degrees, and the scenery was a constantly changing mixture of green native forests and golden Canola cropped farmland. Indeed, my Dutch passenger (one of the guests who was a visitor to WA) said it was one of the most picturesque and enjoyable journeys she has been on.

We arrived at Beverly at midday and went directly to the Freemasons Tavern, which had our reserved Dipsticks table for 16 all set and ready in their alfresco dining area. The service and attention that we received had an air of typical friendly country casualness. We were able to order and pay for our meals separately, and they then arrived at the table within a reasonable time frame, which meant we were able to all eat together… except if you had ordered fish. Apparently the Snapper weren’t biting and so John had to wait (which he did very patiently) a bit longer for his meal to arrive. The food and overall dining experience was (“we’ll be back”) good.

Following some lighthearted around-the-table chit-chit and discussion of departure plans (see photo below), it was decided that the club would disperse after lunch to go their own ways to explore the town and then head back to Perth as suited various individuals or groups.
